Are Affiliate Programs An Effective Way To Earn Money At Home?
There are many people who are trying to make money by working at home
for someone else or by starting their own home business. As with any new
business, the new internet entreprenuer will have some start up business
expenses of some sort. If you already have internet access, a fairly reliable
computer but are limited in financial resources, there are still ways you can
launch your new vocation.
If you are brand new to Internet Marketing, generally, the least expensive
method is to start out as an "Affiliate" which basically means you promote
someone else's product or service, and receive a commission on each sale or
sign-up. The commission usually ranges between 25 to 60% of the price or
even higher for some. The higher the commission rate, the more "eager"
you, the affiliate will be to promote the product, obviously. I personally stay
away from anything less than 40%, but there are exceptions to every rule,
of course. You must evaluate each one carefully, and decide if the product or
service is one for which the demand would be extremely high and worth the
lower commission rate. Remember, tho, digital products in themselves
generally
have a much smaller production cost than a physical, touchable
product. Nor does a digital product incur shipping and handling costs.
Another rule of thumb is, that if it costs you anything to become an Affiliate,
stay away from it. Now, I'm not saying you should not purchase the product
or service. You do need to know what you are promoting, how it works, and
if the concepts are sound. But you should not have to pay to become a sales
person for that product, i.e. Affiliate Membership fees, etc.
However, there are many, many products out there available for FREE which
have Affiliate programs. You can download the product for free, study it and
if you would feel comfortable recommending it to family and friends and
promoting it to others, GO FOR IT!
